Use of Flickr in AT Course

Week3: #7: Use of Flickr in AT Course

One possible use of Flickr is to post a series of photos on different airplanes with unique design features and invite the students to post comments on the photos based on their web research. The emphasis of the exercise will vary depending on the topic.

In the module on Mechanics of Flight, the exercise could include the endurance and range, take-off and landing distances of each of the airplanes and how they are affected by the design features.

Yes, this is a good exercise to get the students to relate the features of an aircraft and their influence on the performance of the aircraft.

I shall have to put in the meat of this exercise for the next academic year when the modules are allotted to the lecturers.

Sounds like a good idea.

Suggestion: How about frame it in terms of how the aircraft designers were trying to solve problems (eg they wanted high speed, or they wanted short take off and landing) and the trade-offs (short range, slow speed, etc).
